ANNOUNCES RESIGNATION OF HOSPITAL GENERAL MANAGER

BETHESDA, MARYLAND - April 7, 2003 - Chindex International, Inc. (NASDAQ: CHDX), the leading independent American company providing Western healthcare products distribution and medical services in the People's Republic of China, today announced that David Wood, the General Manager of its Beijing United Family Hospital and Clinics had resigned. The resignation came in the wake of a highly critical survey of the hospital administration by the medical staff of the hospital.

Speaking of the resignation, Roberta Lipson, Chindex CEO said: "We are grateful for the accomplishments and contributions that David made at Beijing United and we wish him well in his future endeavors. I have appointed an interim General Manager and am proud of our strong medical leadership and administrative staff. We are in the process of conducting interviews for a full time replacement. The resignation has no effect on hospital operations."

Chindex also indicated that it would conduct an internal audit of Beijing United to ensure that internal controls are adequate.
