U.S.-CHINA INDUSTRIAL EXCHANGE, INC. ANNOUNCES
EXCLUSIVE AGREEMENT WITH
JOHNSON & JOHNSON CLINICAL DIAGNOSTICS

BETHESDA, MARYLAND - July 12, 1995 U.S.-CHINA INDUSTRIAL EXCHANGE, INC. (USCIE) (NASDAQ:CHDX), the largest independent American distributor of Western medical instrumentation in the People’s Republic of China today announced an exclusive distribution agreement with Johnson & Johnson Clinical Diagnostics.

Under the terms of the exclusive agreement, USCIE will provide full marketing, sales, technical support and distribution in China for the Johnson & Johnson company’s well known Ektachem line of automated clinical chemistry analyzers.

The Ektachem product line, the market leader in the United States, was developed by Clinical Diagnostics when they were a division of the Eastman Kodak Company. The Kodak clinical diagnostics business, including the Ektachem product line, was purchased by Johnson & Johnson late in 1994. The Ektachem analyzer system provides the most advanced, automated methodology available for clinical chemistry analysis. It utilizes a unique "dry slide" technology which makes it the most convenient and cost effective system available for both low volume emergency work as well as high volume needs requiring throughputs of many hundreds of tests per hour.

"We are proud to team up with Johnson & Johnson Clinical Diagnostics to bring this state of the art technology to China," commented Roberta Lipson, President and CEO of USCIE at the Sinomed ‘95 medical equipment exhibition in Beijing recently where the Ektachem system was being introduced. "The Ektachem system is the future of clinical chemistry here as it has been in other markets in the world. We have introduced the product nation wide in China this Spring and have seen the market respond tremendously. We will utilize the distribution network of our subsidiary company in Tianjin to supply the Ektachem dry slide reagent systems to the market on an ongoing basis. "We think this is going to be a great product line for us."

Mr. Tim Orr, Director, Sales & Marketing/Asia Pacific Region for Johnson & Johnson Clinical Diagnostics commented on the appointment of USCIE: "We are very excited about entering the People’s Republic of China and the opportunity to expand our worldwide leadership position in dry slide clinical chemistry. The China market is expanding rapidly and represents a tremendous opportunity for our Clinical Chemistry Systems. Our unique Ektachem dry slide technology is the perfect fit for this market--comprehensive test menu, simple operation, 24 hour availability and consistent high quality results. Our Ektachem products will be sold exclusively through USCIE. USCIE is a well established organization with an excellent reputation for sales, service and support. We are very enthused about our relationship with USCIE and pleased we can combine the worlds leading dry slide clinical chemistry product line with USCIE’s strong local reputation and excellent customer support record."

USCIE has a worldwide staff of over 100 and has distributed first quality Western medical instrumentation in China since its founding in 1981. Its nation wide sales force in China has supplied capital equipment to more than 600 individual hospitals, many of which re repeat customers. The Company’s strategic policy is to represent only leading edge technologies and to provide exemplary customer service in the Chinese marketplace. The Company owns and operates a full technical service organization as well as a Chinese subsidiary company which provides a national distribution network for consumable products.
